Culminating Task Days:

  • There will be 4 Culminating Task Days - January 21 - 26.

  • Each day will begin with a 120-minute period dedicated to students completing their Culminating Task for that assigned day.

  • Culminating Tasks may include a variety of forms such as assignments, presentations, conferences, interviews, and exams.

  • Teachers will determine the method that best meets the requirements of the course and the needs of the students.

  • The school day will be structured into 3 blocks of time. One 120-minute period dedicated to the culminating task followed by 2–75-minute blocks in the afternoon dedicated to the following day’s culminating task preparation.

  • There will be no new learning or assessment and evaluation (other than the culminating task) during these days.

  • We request that students remain in their Culminating Task period for the full time as calls into the classroom to excuse them and students in the hallway create distractions for the other students trying to complete their task. Please do not call to excuse students part of the way through that period.  If a student needs to leave before the end of the day, please excuse them as of 10:15am. The office can relay that message to them, if needed, at the dismissal of that period at 10:15am.

  • At 10:15am, students who have completed their task will be dismissed and asked to empty the hallways to allow for a continued quiet environment for those still completing their Culminating Tasks.  Students can go to the library, cafeteria, or exit the school for the lunch break.

  • Please note that the last day of cafeteria service for the semester will be January 20.  Students will have to bring lunch or seek it elsewhere after Tuesday until semester 2 begins

  • Attendance will be taken during the Culminating Task and the afternoon class. Students are expected to remain in that same classroom for the Study Period at the end of the day.

  • During the Study Period time blocks, students with Physical Education or Technology classes will be relocated to the cafeteria.

  • Bussing will remain on the same schedule for the duration of the semester, including the Culminating Task Days and Feedback, Recovery, and Improvement Days.

  • Students in the Life Skills program will be maintaining their regular daily schedule for the duration of the semester

  • In the event of a bus cancellation day on a Culminating Task Day, the whole schedule will be moved one day, and one of the Feedback, Recovery, and Improvement Days will be cancelled.  There will be no change to the start of the new semester date of Monday, February 2, 2026.

Feedback, Recovery, and Improvement Days (FRI Days):

  • These will occur in the remaining 3 days of the semester. (January 27 - 29)

  • Students can attend to complete assignment(s), receive feedback, or improve an area(s) of missed expectations.

  • Students will be provided with a reflection form that they are strongly encouraged to complete in advance of the FRI Days to make attending these days more valuable and to give their teachers time to prepare evaluation strategies to support missed expectations

  • Teachers will be available to assist students in completing the form, if necessary.

  • All students have the option to attend the FRI Days.

  • The FRI Days will have a reverse week class schedule, and teachers will be available during their class times for support.

  • If students are in attendance in the building, they are expected to be in their classrooms, not in the hallways, library, bathrooms, or cafeteria.  If students are found to be wandering, they will be asked to leave the building.

  • In the event of a bus cancellation day during the FRI Days, the day will continue as usual, and any student who can safely arrive at the school can attend their classes.  The day will not be rescheduled.

  • The start of semester 2 will remain as Monday, February 2, 2026.
