Last night's boys' soccer game against our all-time rivals, Angus was a nail bitter. Twin scored early when Jaxson "Curly" Leslie found the back of the net on a pass from Hudson "Buzz" Aldridge. Notty came back to score on a corner. Unfortunately, they scored again on a breakaway making it 2-1 for Notty. They tried to run the clock down, and with less than 5 minutes left, Buzz Aldridge had a beauty shot after a given and go with Gunner Wolfe and Carter Briand.
The regular time ended and 2, ten-minute halves saw Twin dominating but unable to find the net. It came down to the final minutes, and Kail "Rambo" Huffman took a yellow card, denying Notty a tie breaking goal. With a minute left of over time, Gunnar Wolfe was subbed into net for penalty kicks.
Buzz was up first and powered the ball high and to the left. Notty also scored when Gunnar drove but missed. Carter Briand had a perfect, bottom left shot. Gunnar saved Notty's shot. Then Kobra Kai Elford had an incredible curved shot to the top left. Notty missed their shot, and Twin needed only one more goal. Twin missed their fourth shot. Gunnar psyched out their player and Notty missed, resulting in Twin winning the game and Notty crushed and crying - literally.
Last night in basketball action, your T-Birds faced a very strong and undefeated Bear Creek in their final game of the league season. The first quarter was close with a score of 14-12 for the Kodiaks. Unfortunately they started to pull away and won the game with a final score of 56-38. Honourable mention goes out to Avery Bell for hitting 4 threes in the game. Next up are playoffs! Stay tuned for more information and come check out the boys volleyball teams tonight in the Thunderdome.

Today, for asexuality awareness week, we’ll be learning about romantic orientations. For the Ace community, sexual orientation isn't all there is. Some asexuals want romantic relationships with others, which is why sexual and romantic orientations are separate. For some people, this can be the same; for example, someone might be bisexual and biromantic. For some, this could be different, for someone could be Asexual and Panromantic. This is important for asexuals, as they could want a romantic relationship with someone but might not desire a sexual one. This is the opposite for aromantic people, which we’ll talk about tomorrow.

Last Friday, in the cold and the rain, the Twin Lakes Varsity Boys soccer team won the Huronia Cup Soccer Tournament. Their first game ended in a 2-2 tie with GBD; both goals were scored by "Kobra Kai" Elford. The second game saw no score and Xavier Brown recorded the shutout. The third game placed us against the 1st place Le Caron; again the game ended in a 2-2 tie with both goals being scored by Hudson "Buzz" Aldridge. Twin made the finals to face off once again against the 1st place Le Caron which resulted in winning the tournament with a score of 3-0. Goal scorers were Kail "Rambo" Huffman, Riley (Ry Guy) Metlin, and Cole "CP" Perreault; shutout by Xavier Brown.
On Wednesday, October 22nd we will be celebrating our Annual Thunderstars Award Ceremony during Period B at 8:15 in the cafeteria.
We look forward to sharing your achievements with your family and friends on Wednesday.
This is Asexuality Awareness Week. Asexuality is defined as a lack of sexual attraction. People who identify as asexual will have their own personal boundaries ranging from being sex-positive to sex-repulsed. If you are in a relationship with an asexual person, you should always ask their boundaries
and respect them, as they can differ from person to person.
You can see an example of an Asexual Pride flag on the GSA bulletin board outside the library. The Ace flag was created in 2010. It has four horizontal stripes, which are black, gray, white, and purple. The black stripe represents asexuality, the gray stripe represents greysexuality and demisexuality,
the white stripe represents allosexuality, and the purple stripe represents the community as a whole.

The first twin goal was scored by Riley Metlin and Beckett Hamilton scored the second goal on a penalty kick. Xavier Brown stepped up in the 2nd half with some aggressive, unorthodox goal tending only allowing one goal in the half. Shout outs to all the players for showing once again that Twin may be down but they are never out.

Asking for and using someone’s personal pronouns shows respect, just like how you would use their name correctly.
-
‘They/them’ can be used as a singular, gender neutral pronoun.
-
There are many more pronouns outside of, ‘they/them’, ‘he/his’, ‘she/her’.
Happy International Pronoun Day!

Despite a Trip-to-phin Induced slow start, thanks to excessive turkey consumption on the weekend; the boys managed to squeak out a win in the first set, and then dominate the next two sets thanks to our unstoppable Middles, in particular player of the game Reed the beast Bowman.
The seniors are now 6 and 0 and still rolling!
Congrats boys!

Last week in girls basketball action, Twin traveled to Banting to play an inexperienced team. Right from the tip-off, Twin was the stronger team and this was evident in the final score of 54 to 14! Next up was an overnight tournament 4 hours from Orillia in the metropolis of Brockville. While the first game and shooting competition did not go as planned the second game and the best game we have to date was unreal! With grit, energy and tenacity it was a back and forth game that Twin won with sheer determination and a score of 43 to 38. The overnight trip and tournament brought many honourable mentions…like 6 or 7!!! Shout out to Elora DeWolfsmith for her return to play from an injury and her grit on the floor in the final game…she did not give up, to the pink balloon shenanigans in the van, to Disney show tunes, dinner out at a famous Netflix movie set, cousins dropping in, microwave popcorn and so much more. Super important Sr. Boys' Golf meeting at the beginning of lunch in room 316.
Athlete of the Month
SEPTEMBER
Good Morning Twin Lakes…..Athletic Council and Sport Coaches will be recognizing 1 to 2 athletes each month. These athletes may possess leadership qualities, next level play, ability to see the game, show determination or are just incredibly COACHABLE!. Today we would like to announce the Athletes of the Month for September…..Drumroll please:
Congratulations to...Carter Forsyth for Golf and Leah Hancock for Flag Football.
The Golf Coach mentions that "On the first day of school, a Grade 9 student said he wanted to play Sr. Boys Golf. We had a practice, and he did not disappoint. At the first qualifier, he shot 85, to miss GBs by one stroke. At the second qualifier, he told his coach, 'I am going to go sub 80,' which he did, finishing at 77. This not only qualified him for GBs, but it also helped to qualify the entire Sr. Boys' Team for GBs. Congratulations, Carter Forsyth, on a great start to Athletics here at Twin!"
The Flag Football Coaches mention that Leah is a strong recipient of the Athlete of the Month for her skill, toughness, and complete ability to lay her body on the line for her team. She is a super star and a team leader on and off the field. A great addition to Twin Lakes Athletics and the flag football team. Congrats Leah!
If you see Carter or Leah today...be sure to congratulate them. Way to go Twin!

This past weekend, Twin Lakes, OSS and PF hosted the annual Girls Blackball Tournament. Teams from all over Ontario descend upon Orillia for the great basketball and the Mariposa treats. Twin kicked off the tournament against a very strong LoEllen Park team. This program has a graduated player currently playing for the University of Michigan and is on the National Women’s team! Your T-Birds worked hard and did not give up but were unable to compete. Next up was cross town rivals OSS at OSS. With the short turnaround time and a young program, we are were no match for OSS at this time. The girls fought hard but did not earn the win. The last game of the weekend was against Korah from Sault St Marie. Twin was eager to play and redeem themselves and that they did. From great energy in warm-up to seven players hitting the score sheet…Your T-Birds wanted the win and that they did! Honourable mention goes out to the entire team for some very tough games and holding your heads high through losses, to the grade 9s and 10s on the teams playing against strong senior programs and lastly the score table…we could not run this tournament without you. Thank you Callum, Takoda, Brendan, Hayden, Max and Emerson! You guys Rock! Practice tonight from 4-5:30! Way to go Twin!
