Friday April 10, 2026 

 GSA Members

Hello members of GSA. There Will be a quick meeting for anyone attending the Annual Conference field trip on Monday in room 310 at the beginning of lunch. There are a couple of spaces left for students who wish to attend but haven’t signed up yet. If you wish to attend, please come and register with Ms. Keats in Room 310 at the beginning of lunch.

 The Election

Could the Ushers for the Election please meet in the drama room at the start of lunch today. 

 Dreams Delayed

The SCDSB acknowledges the ongoing impact of systemic anti‑Black racism in education. We are committed to addressing these challenges.

In response to the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s Dreams Delayed report, we are hosting a consultation for Black students here at our school.

This will be held at our school on Thursday, April 23 at lunchtime in the library. 

Please see the QR code on the posters posted around our school to register or please connect with the Guidance Office or an admin for assistance to register. 

Pizza will be provided.

The voice of Black students will be critical and we hope you will participate.

 Semi-Formal Theme

If you would like to have a say in the semi-formal theme, find a QR code posted around the school and vote for your favourite theme. Voting will close on Friday.

 Girls Soccer

Girls Soccer practice will take place today after school at the turf. Players are encouraged to put their bag in Mr. McCann or Mrs. Vurma's car, and run over to Rotary place for practice. Practice will take place At 2:30

 Exchange 

Don't let this opportunity pass you by. Experience travel to a coastal or Northern community in Canada, meet new people, and learn about a different culture. Applications are due tomorrow. See Mrs. Vurma and Mr. Irwin for more information if you missed the meeting last week.

Tropical Day

ATTENTION THUNDERBIRDS!! On April 10th, it will be Tropical day! Bring your loonies and toonies for freezies and ice cream bars, and tropical wear that’s school appropriate! Come down to the cafe on Friday, and feel the upcoming summer vibes with tropical games!!! SEA YOU THEN!!!

 Mountain Bike Club

Looking for a fun way to get outside, try something new, and meet great people? Join the Mountain Bike Club! Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced rider, everyone is welcome. No experience needed come check it out, ask questions, and see what it’s all about.

 Jr. Tennis Players

Attention JUNIOR Tennis players, if you are a tennis player and want to represent Twin Lakes in SCAA, please sign up on the bulletin board outside of the main gyms and listen to further announcements for an upcoming meeting.  Practices will take place when the courts are up and ready at Rotary place.  You HAVE to know how to play and have your own the equipment.  If  you have any questions, please see Mrs. Hagman in the PE office.

 DND Club

Due to a meeting of the shadowy council of school staff, DND club will be cancelled today. Be ready next week for your adventure to continue.

 The Election

Twin Lakes Secondary School’s production of The Election is looking for student volunteers to work as ushers for the week of April 13th to 17th. 

Responsibilities include: greeting guests, handing out programs and assisting with general organization before and after the show.  

Volunteer hours will be awarded for time and participation.  

This is a great opportunity to support your school community and be part to be part of this amazing production! 

If interested, please come to a brief meeting in the drama room at the beginning of lunch today.  

 Prom Committee & Student Council

This message is for the prom committee. There will be a brief, stand-up meeting at lunch on Wednesday in room 219.
This is also a reminder for Students’ Council that there will be a meeting today at lunch in room 219. We hope to see you there.
